Muscovites will be offered new ways to buy train tickets

Single ticket

A one-way (single) ticket for a regular train remains valid for one trip throughout the purchase date indicated on it until 01:00 the next day.

However, if a passenger boards the train before 00:00 and arrives at the destination after midnight, the ticket remains valid until the end of the trip , regardless of its end time.

Read our article about the rights that consumers of Russian Railways services can enjoy.

Round trip ticket

A two-way train ticket (round trip) is valid towards the destination until the end of the current day (similar to a one-way ticket).

The validity period for a return trip ends with the end of the next day . However, this does not take into account official holidays and weekends.

By purchasing a two-way ticket on Friday, a passenger has the right to make a return trip using this ticket until the end of Monday.

Purchasing a round-trip ticket means only one trip to the destination and the possibility of return travel.

The trip ends the moment you leave the train.

Moreover, if you did it halfway, having this ticket does not give you the right to travel further along it in the same direction, but on a different commuter train.

Muscovites will be offered new ways to buy train tickets

In 2021, train passengers will be able to buy electronic tickets for any destination through a mobile application. The head of the IT Department of Central Suburban Passenger Company JSC (CPPC) Igor Evdokimov told the Moscow 24 portal about this. Today, using a smartphone, you can buy tickets in four directions: Paveletsky, Yaroslavl, Kazan and Leningradsky (refers to MT PPK). Read about the ways in which you can now buy a train ticket and which are being prepared in the near future in the material of the Moscow 24 portal.

Box office

The easiest and at the same time the oldest way to buy train tickets is using ticket offices. True, now at the window the cashier not only gives paper tickets with which you can enter the platform, but can also write the ticket on a transport card (“Troika”, “Strelka” or a social card), issue a subscription and even give a card for the person seeing you off - she allows you to go onto the platform to help a friend or relative with things.

You can also pay for all transactions without taking your wallet out of your pocket: a bank card, contactless smartphone services and all other modern payment methods are available to passengers.

Slot machines

To relieve queues at the box office, ticket machines have appeared. Modern ticket purchasing machines can almost completely replace a cashier. You can buy all types of tickets there, including season tickets and discount tickets if you have a social card, as well as carrier transport cards.

If you are a bicycle lover, then you can immediately buy an additional ticket for your two-wheeled iron friend, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. you can carry it for free, as well as pay for luggage and your favorite pet (25% of the cost of a one-time ticket). ticket). In addition to paying in cash, you can pay at the machines with a bank card, including contactless ones, and using a smartphone. Ticket printing machines are located at all metropolitan train stations and at most commuter stations.

From 2021, at some stations where there are no ticket machines and ticket offices or where they are open for limited hours, terminals for printing advance travel documents have been installed for the convenience of passengers. Using the new terminals, passengers can receive a boarding pass for free, and pay for the fare on the train from the controllers, at the ticket office after arrival at the destination platform, or at a ticket printing device. Such a coupon allows you to pay only the fare, but not pay an additional service fee, which is 100 or 200 rubles.

Now similar devices can be found on the Kiev, Yaroslavl, Savelovsky, Kazan and Riga directions. At 19 stations of the Kiev direction, 42 self-service terminals were installed, 33 terminals appeared at 11 stopping points of the Yaroslavl direction, 51 pre-sale ticket terminals were located at 22 stops of the Savelovsky direction, 119 terminals were installed on 33 platforms of the Kazan direction, and at Rizhsky - more than 60 terminals for 25 stations. All of them are equipped with solar panels and anti-vandal coating.

Bank and transport cards

Within a couple of years, commuter carriers promise to introduce a very convenient type of payment - using a transport or bank card directly at the turnstile. It is assumed that it will be possible to enter the train by tapping a Troika, Strelka or contactless bank card to the turnstile validator, on which a certain amount will be blocked and debited at the final station. At stations where there are no turnstiles, validators will be installed to control passage.

However, the issue is still under discussion. The main problem with introducing this payment method is that not all commuter stations yet have turnstiles.

Mobile app

Last fall, the TsPPK mobile application made it possible to buy electronic train tickets via a smartphone. To purchase a ticket, passengers need to install the “TsPK Timetable and Tickets” application, then select the route, electric train, travel date and type of ticket – “there” or “round-trip”. You can pay for your ticket by credit card or via Google Pay and Apple Pay. After purchasing an electronic ticket, you need to activate it in the application and scan the QR code on the display located on the special turnstile at the departure station. A barcode will appear on the electronic ticket, which must be applied to the turnstile scanner at the railway station.

Now you can buy an electronic ticket for most stations of three directions of the Moscow Railway (MZD). Passengers have this opportunity on 10 platforms of the Paveletsky direction: Paveletsky Station, Nizhnie Kotly, Kolomenskoye, Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya, Biryulyovo-Pasazhirskaya, Domodedovo, Airport-Domodedovo, Barybino, Mikhnevo, Stupino.

Since November 1 last year, you can buy an electronic ticket on the Yaroslavl direction for 22 stations: Yaroslavsky Station, Moscow-3, Malenkovskaya, Yauza, Severyanin, Losinoostrovskaya, Los, Perlovskaya, Taininskaya, Mytishchi, Podlipki-Dachnye, Voronok, Shchelkovo, Chkalovskaya, Monino , Ivanteevka-2, Ivanteevka, Fryazino-Passenger, Stroitel, Zavety Ilyich, Pushkino, Alexandrov-1.

The mobile service also allows you to issue tickets from stations in the Kazan direction: Kazansky Station, Elektrozavodskaya, Novaya, Frezer, Perovo, as well as Veshnyaki, Vykhino, Kosino, Ukhtomskaya, Lyubertsy, Panki and Tomilino. The list also includes Malakhovka, Udelnaya, Bykovo, Ilyinskaya, Otdykh, Fabrichnaya, Ramenskoye, 88 km, Kolomna, Golutvin, Kurovskaya and Shatura.

In order to purchase an electronic ticket for travel on the Leningrad direction (Oktyabrskaya Railway), you need to download another application “Russian Railways Passengers”. It allows you to issue tickets for commuter trains of the Moscow-Tver Suburban Passenger Company (MTPPK), running on the sections Moscow - Tver (Konakovo) and Tver - Bologoe (Torzhok). In the application, you can issue one-time tickets “There” or “There and back” for regular electric trains, “Comfort” trains and high-speed “Swallows”. You can also buy an electronic subscription.

Face recognition

Carriers are already thinking about introducing the most innovative types of fare payment. In the future, passengers will be able to completely abandon ticket media, that is, paper tickets, transport cards and any other additional devices. And the main carrier of information will be human biometric data. It is assumed that, if passengers wish, their biometric data will be read to purchase train tickets. This will allow you to pass through the turnstiles without presenting a ticket or subscription. The system will automatically calculate whether the passenger has a valid travel document.

“You won’t have to carry a plastic card with you, you won’t have to carry a smartphone or anything else with you, the passenger will be able to simply go through our turnstiles and use our services,” explained Igor Evdokimov, head of the IT Department of the Center for Transport and Communications.

At the same time, all biometric data of passengers will be collected only with the consent of the person, and they will be stored in a secure place so that they do not become public knowledge and do not end up in the hands of fraudsters. The Kyiv railway station and the Solnechnaya transport hub are already participating in testing the facial recognition technology; however, only employees of the carrier company are participating in the experiment, but not passengers. As the developers say, in this technology a lot depends on the infrastructure, on the weather, on the person’s condition, on the presence of a headdress and other conditions. The first results of testing a biometric fare control system on electric trains may be presented in 2019.

A biometric facial recognition system may be included in the “smart city” standard for Russian cities, which the Ministry of Construction has begun to develop. Experts consider the technology convenient for public transport to reduce passenger boarding time.

Subscription

Russian Railways currently offers several types of subscriptions :

  • On weekdays, a “Working Day” , valid for up to 30 and up to 90 days from the date of purchase;
  • Differentiation of travel dates increases the attractiveness of the “Daily” , valid for 5, 10, 30, 90 and 360 days, respectively;
  • In this article you will learn how to return a ticket through the Russian Railways website.

  • The subscription “For the number of trips” establishes not only the specific number of possible trips, but also the period for their implementation.
    Thus, a subscription giving the right to 10 or 20 trips should be used only within 30 days from the date of purchase, and for 60 trips - within the next 120 days.
  • There is also an offer for a “Weekend Day” , which is valid both on the weekends themselves (Saturday, Sunday), and on the days preceding or following them, and also on holidays.

The subscription remains valid for 30 days from the date of purchase.

Season tickets

When deciding to buy a train ticket, you should understand that it means one of the types of travel documents that provide the right to travel on commuter trains. Moreover, it can be of several subspecies.

Kinds

Subscriptions can be of different types, each of which carries with it a specific feature. Today the most popular are:

  • “Daily” is the optimal solution for those passengers who use the electric train every day, including weekends and holidays;
  • “Working day” - it is preferred by those who use the services of the train on weekdays. Often these clients are workers and students. According to the conditions, it can only be used from Monday to Friday, on other days you need to buy another ticket;
  • “Weekend” – is popular among those who often use the train on weekends. For example, for trips out of town or to various shopping and entertainment centers, guests;
  • “For the number of trips” is the best option for those who rarely, but with a certain frequency, use the services of an electric train. Depending on the selected tariff plan, the subscription may include 10, 20 or more trips.

At the same time, each passenger reserves the right, if desired, to find out the remaining number of trips. To do this, use one of the few methods:

  • when passing through a specially installed turnstile - provided that it has a screen on which personal information about the subscription is displayed;
  • by applying the subscription to a specially designed validator at one of the stations along the route.

There is no other way to check the remaining number of trips.

You can view the full list of subscription types on the official Russian Railways website or at any ticket office.

Validity

When considering the period of validity of subscriptions, you need to pay attention to the following important features:

  • You can buy travel cards in advance - 1 month before their validity begins, but it will be impossible to use them before the deadline;
  • the subscription can be used to enter and exit at any intermediate stops directly along the paid route - for travel documents of the “Number of trips” type, Russian Railways establishes personal conditions, which can be found on the organization’s website;
  • re-passing, it does not matter, to enter or exit the same turnstile, is possible only after a minimum of 40 minutes. If you try to do this before the specified time, access will be denied.

Do not forget about the possibility of restoring a travel document due to the loss of a transport card.

You can only restore your subscription; full or partial refunds are provided in exceptional cases.

The procedure is simple and is as follows:

  1. The passenger must contact one of the suburban railway ticket offices - where exactly this will be done does not matter.
  2. Drawing up an appropriate application for the restoration of a travel document or a partial refund. In the application, in addition to the request itself, the passenger must indicate the details of the lost transport card and other personal data.
  3. Waiting for a decision to be made.

The decision to restore a lost subscription is made instantly. If it is necessary to issue a partial or full refund of funds, the period for making a decision cannot exceed the 30-day period established by federal legislation from the date of application.

Partial or full refund of funds paid for the subscription is not possible if the validity period of the transport card has already expired. In this case, passengers have no choice but to buy a new one, if necessary.

Student

Among the preferential categories of passengers, various categories of students (institutions of secondary and secondary specialized education, higher educational institutions) are also distinguished.

Benefits for them may vary depending on the specific region, but most often the benefit is expressed in the payment of 50% of the fare .

The validity period of tickets does not differ from similar tickets purchased at full price.

Read here how long it takes for money to be returned when returning a purchase.

All offers for schoolchildren and students are valid throughout the entire academic year , the terms and duration of which depend directly on the type and profile of the educational institution.

Among students, only those who are studying full-time , and only within the framework of the academic year, that is, from September 1 to June 15.

Students of secondary education institutions can use this opportunity only from September to May inclusive.

One of the benefits of student passes is that they are unlimited in terms of the number of trips they can travel, but only limited in terms of duration of validity.

The discounted travel pass can be used for 30 days.

At the same time, some carriers offer preferential travel passes (at a discount) with greater variability in validity (from 5 to 365 days).

Students can purchase student tickets and subscriptions only by directly contacting the railway ticket office and providing the following documents :

  1. certificate from school for students;
  2. student card (for students);
  3. student's social card
  4. identification document (birth certificate, passport).

And here you will find instructions on how to hand over your railway ticket at the railway ticket office.

Does a police officer have the right to detain someone if they refuse to show their passport? (The passport was in hand, see the comment for more details)

If you mean a situation where you were simply stopped on the street and asked for documents, then:

According to paragraph 5 of Article 25 of the Law “On the Police,” police officers serving in public places must have a special badge that allows them to identify a police officer. The absence of this sign is a violation of the law.

You must ask why you are being asked for a document. They cannot check your documents “just like that.” According to clause 1 sub. 2 tbsp. 13 of the Law “On Police” the officer must have information to suspect you:

1) in the commission of a crime;

2) in committing an administrative offense;

3) that you are on the wanted list or on the list of missing persons.

Show your passport only from your own hands. A police officer does not have the right to confiscate your passport or take it as collateral - this is a violation of Article 19.17 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation

According to clause 17 of the Regulations on the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, you are obliged to carefully store your passport. So keep it at home, for example. And remember, you are not required to prove your innocence.

Art. 1.5 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. But the police officer will be obliged to prove your guilt. If he still fails to do this, then his actions can be appealed.

Vadim, please tell me, do you need to show your passport when buying tickets at Garage? I’m a schoolgirl, and I look like I’m 15, but suddenly they’re principled there, and they only let me in based on my passport.

When purchasing a ticket online, do I need to print it?

Or is it possible, say, on the train to simply present it electronically from the screen of an accessible gadget?

I don’t know how it is in other countries, but in Russia, although it is recommended to have a printout or an electronic document on the screen of a smartphone or tablet, in practice, even at the airport, even at the train carriage, you just need to show your passport, they find your name on the list of passengers, that's all. We haven't printed anything for a long time.

Tell me, do I need a passport when buying tickets for an intercity bus?

When presenting an electronic ticket, am I required to show my passport on commuter trains?

Must. You must provide a document proving your identity when presenting an electronic ticket, including on trains. Instead of the original, you can provide a photo of your document, for example on a mobile phone.
