Find out the sender by the Russian Post notification number.

Rules

Registered letters were introduced so that the sender was sure that the recipient would definitely receive his correspondence.

After the parcel has arrived at the final post office at the recipient’s place of residence, a postal notice is sent in which you can find the following information:

  • weight of registered letter;
  • date of arrival at final destination;
  • departure country;
  • send type.

If the recipient does not come to the post office, the postal notice will be sent again after 5 days. The registered letter will be stored for one month, after which it will be sent back. Sometimes correspondence can be stored for two months. If a person has received a subpoena, it will be stored in the post office for only one week. In this case, the postal notice must read “Judicial.” Read more about how long parcels and other correspondence are stored here, and we talked about how to fill out a notification upon receipt of a letter or parcel in this article.

Parcel tracking process

Parcel tracking allows you to fully control the parcel delivery process.
To do this, each shipment is assigned a unique identification code - a track number, which allows you to find out exactly where the parcel is currently located and estimate the approximate delivery time. Tracking a parcel by track number is possible using our service 100parcels.com, which provides the user with all the necessary information about the current condition and location of the parcel. When delivered by Russian Post, registered parcels are assigned a track number, which is displayed on the receipt issued to the sender. The shipment ID contains 14 digits with which you can track your shipment.

International parcels

International parcels are also assigned a tracking number. It has a numerical and alphabetic designation, which encrypts the delivery method and country of departure. The addressee usually receives international parcels within 2-3 weeks. The exception is the pre-holiday period, as well as seasonal sales, when there is an increased load on postal and courier services.

Small packages

Small packages are also assigned a track number. The identifier can be a combination of numbers and letters or just numbers. Small packages take approximately 30 days to arrive.

EMS shipments

EMS is a service for express mail delivery. The company provides services in Russia and other countries. There are more than 42,000 branches in the Russian Federation. Delivery is carried out by courier to the nearest post office, to the addressee’s home or to another place convenient for the client. In Russia, a 14-digit postal identifier is used. Upon dispatch, a check is issued, where the track is indicated as follows RPO No. **************. Delivery of EMS items takes 7-14 days.

Express services

Express services (such as DHL, CDEK, PonyExpress) offer expedited delivery of goods. This is one of the most convenient delivery methods. In this case, the parcel is delivered to the recipient’s home or office. All shipments in this case are registered, each of them is assigned a track number. When using express services, the format of the shipment track number usually differs from the international one, and each service has its own (see the section with the track number format on the express service page). Express delivery usually takes about 3-7 days.

Is it possible to check who the registered mail came from?

You can determine the sender's name. To do this, you only need the Internet and a 14-digit number, which can be found under the barcode on the postal notice (read about how to track a postal item via the Internet by number here). However, the question often arises: why find out the sender's name in advance if you can do it at the post office? The answer is simple, many people receive advertising brochures in the mail, which they simply don’t have to pick up and waste their time.

Other registered letters may not be received at all, for example, bank offers. Well, some specifically avoid any letters, for example, a summons from the military registration and enlistment office.

What is a track code?

The track code is a unique parcel number, also called a postal identifier (English tracking number) or tracking number. Tracking number, international postal identifier of the shipment by which delivery services are guided. The track code allows you to track the passage of the order through sorting centers, intermediate points, as well as the fact that the parcel was delivered to the recipient. WherePackage makes it possible to track the track of various services with automatic mail detection. You can track your parcel by shipment number and receive notifications of status changes to your email address after registration.

How to find out information on the Russian Post website?

As already mentioned, you will need a 14-digit code. This set of numbers is far from random. So, the first 6 six characters indicate the postal code from which the postal package was sent. And numbers from 9 to 13 are the code for the letter itself.

  1. To determine the sender's name, you need to go to the website https://www.pochta.ru/tracking. It is best to log in via a computer or laptop, as via a phone it will be very inconvenient.
  2. In a special window with the inscription “Enter the track number or several numbers separated by a space,” you need to enter the 14-digit code from the postal notice.
  3. Now you need to check the correctness of the input; if you entered the wrong set of characters, the necessary information will not be displayed.
  4. A little to the right of the place where you need to enter the code, there is a blue square with a magnifying glass inside. You need to left-click on it.
  5. After this, if the code was entered correctly, the user will see a window with information about the sender, date of departure, place of departure and the current location of the registered letter.

Now the recipient knows who sent him the correspondence and can decide whether to receive it at the post office or not. However, this method will be relevant if the sender decides to use the services of Russian Post. Otherwise, you will have to use other services.

Any client who is dissatisfied with the quality of services provided by Russian Post has the right to present his claims to the postal operator. Parcel tracking at customs

Each parcel from abroad must undergo customs clearance. To do this, it is transferred to a temporary storage warehouse, where it will remain until the end of the procedure. During the inspection, the parcel is scanned using a special X-ray machine. In this way, a check is made to ensure the absence of prohibited goods. After this, the indicated shipping price is checked against the approximate cost of the contents. After this, the parcel is transferred to be sent to its destination.

When the parcel reaches customs

The parcel is handed over to the customs service after arrival in the destination country. Users can control the status of their parcel through the track number. The start of customs control is indicated by the status “Customs clearance has begun.” The status “The parcel has passed customs clearance” indicates its successful completion. The wording of the status itself may differ slightly depending on the postal operator.

Why are customs delaying parcels?

Customs officers may have many reasons for delaying postal delivery. The most common ones are the following:

  • The total estimated value of the goods exceeds the established limit. In this case, delay is possible only in the absence of a declaration and payment of customs duties;
  • The total weight of the parcel is more than 50 kg. In this case, the addressee will also have to pay a fee;
  • Presence of prohibited goods or substances in the shipment;
  • Suspicion of the commercial purpose of the product, although it was registered as a private purchase. Most often this concerns parcels with the same type of cargo.

How to understand that a parcel has been detained at customs

How to find out if a parcel is detained at customs? There are two ways to do this:

  • Check the status of the parcel at customs. When tracking the track number, the status “Detained by Customs” may appear. However, it does not always appear; in some cases, the user sees that his parcel is ready for pickup, but the place of receipt is non-standard.
  • The customs service sends a registered letter to the recipient at the address to which the package should be delivered. As a rule, it does not indicate the reasons for the detention. But it must contain the shelf life of the parcel. After its expiration, it will be sent back to the sender (seller).

If notice of detention has been received, you must visit the customs office in person. You must have the following set of documents with you:

  • Recipient's passport;
  • If the cargo was delayed due to the same type of goods, additional passports of relatives or friends for whom the purchase was made will be required;
  • Invoice from the store;
  • Bank statement or payment form for goods.

At customs, the recipient will have to fill out an explanatory form, listing the names of the goods and their purpose. If the reason for the detention was exceeding the established weight or value limits, you will need to pay a fee. Its amount depends on the estimated value of the goods in the parcel. After providing the payment receipt, the addressee will be able to pick up the parcel.

If the duty, according to the recipient’s calculations, is too high and it is unprofitable to pay, then the easiest way is to ignore the letter from the customs service. In this case, the parcel will be sent back to the seller after the expiration of the storage period.

Why does customs need a TIN?

According to the current government decree, parcels from foreign online stores will undergo customs clearance and reach the buyer only if they provide their TIN. According to the law, a citizen can order duty-free goods worth up to 200 euros and weighing no more than 31 kg. In this case, the product must be intended for personal use and not for commercial activity. The TIN allows you to identify the buyer, check the total amount and weight of his purchases. If the limit is exceeded, the parcel will be delayed and the recipient will be required to pay a fee. Its size is 15% of the amount over the limit.
