The last time the composition of a car first aid kit was changed was by Order of the Ministry of Health in 2009. According to the amendments, all medications were excluded from the first aid kit. According to the previous order of 1996, it included analgin, aspirin, validol, ammonia, etc.

  • Expiration date of a car first aid kit
  • Punishment for not having a first aid kit

But given the fact that few drivers understand the specific effects of drugs on the human body, and there is a high risk of side effects, officials decided to no longer include drugs in the first aid kit. Another reason for excluding medications was the inability to provide the necessary temperature conditions in the car to maintain shelf life.

At the same time, the sets of dressing materials were significantly expanded: bandages, plasters, etc. The composition of the car first aid kit is given in the following table.

NameSizeQuantity, pcs.

Thus, the first aid kit includes various devices for stopping bleeding and bandaging, performing artificial respiration, etc. At the same time, legislators have established only the minimum that must be in the first aid kit: if desired, the driver can equip it with additional devices.

Thanks to changes in the composition of the first aid kit, it has a lower cost compared to the previous version. So, now the average cost of a first aid kit is about 350 rubles.

The driver does not have to buy a ready-made kit; he can create a first aid kit himself.

Expiration date of a car first aid kit

After amendments were made to the Order of the Ministry of Health of 1996, not only did the price of a first aid kit decrease, but its shelf life also significantly increased. Due to the lack of medications that had a short shelf life (about 18 months), the shelf life of the car first aid kit was increased three times.

Today it is 4.5 years. The date of production or expiration date is written on the packaging. The driver has 6 months to replace an expired first aid kit. Accordingly, you need to change your first aid kit every 5 years.

At the same time, it is not at all necessary to change the entire kit of the first aid kit: for example, bandages, provided they are properly maintained, have no shelf life restrictions, adhesive plasters can be stored for up to 6 years. But if the dressings have become unusable, their packaging is damaged, and the expiration dates are not visible, then they must be replaced.

What is the fine for not having a first aid kit, fire extinguisher and warning triangle?

The fine for the absence of a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, and also a warning triangle in 2021 is 500 rubles. It is regulated by the Code of Administrative Offenses by Article 12.5 and its Part 1, which provides for prosecution for all violations of the Basic Provisions for the Operation of Vehicles:

1. Driving a vehicle in the presence of malfunctions or conditions under which, in accordance with the Basic Provisions for the admission of vehicles to operation and the duties of officials to ensure road safety, operation of the vehicle is prohibited, with the exception of malfunctions and conditions specified in parts 2 - 7 of this article - entails a warning or the imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of five hundred rubles.

At the same time, the inspector, of course, will not fine you for the absence of certain components in the first aid kit. But an expired first aid kit or fire extinguisher for a car entails the same fine, because it is tantamount to their absence. Although, according to elementary logic and the letter of the law, one can draw a conclusion like “there is a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit in the car, the law does not indicate that they must not be expired,” in fact, in this regard, everything is simple - for the expiration date of these two elements you will be fined.

But the law does not regulate in any way what kind of fire extinguisher should be in a car: neither its volume, nor its type (powder or foam), nor other parameters and characteristics.

Checking the expiration date of the traffic police first aid kit

What to do if the drugs are expired?

It’s hard to imagine that medical scissors or gloves from a first aid kit will expire.

As for bandages, plasters and napkins, their shelf life is calculated in years , so you can always find time and replace expired ones.

It is also worth replacing medical supplies if the integrity of their packaging is compromised.

For example, you need to change the packaging of bandages if one of them was used for first aid.

If the driver is caught by a traffic police inspector, he can formally fine the car owner. However, in most cases, the matter ends with a recommendation to renew accessories that have expired.

As for additional medications that the driver independently places in the first aid kit, compliance with their expiration dates remains on the conscience of the car owner himself .

They cannot fine him for such expired medications . However, if the driver places medications in his first aid kit, then it seems logical to monitor the timing and change the medications after their service life has expired.

There are often situations when the standard equipment of inexpensive kits includes low-quality products: scissors with dull blades, bandages made of insufficiently dense fabric, etc. Drivers complete such medical kits on their own, purchasing high-quality products on their own.

Additional recommended equipment

A car first aid kit may contain additional items not specified by the approved order. Such products include painkillers, medications that stop bleeding and eliminate inflammatory processes of various types.

The list of medications for a car enthusiast is different. Additional medications are selected and purchased by the driver at his own discretion.

Having decided to retrofit a transport medical kit with new drugs, the driver must know how to use them and monitor the expiration date of the drugs.

What should not be in the first aid kit

It is important for every law-abiding driver not only to have information about what is included in the car first aid kit 2021 - 2020, but also to know what should not be included in it. The set of new medical kits for transport does not contain medications. Their absence is due to a number of reasons, namely:

  • the majority of people who are the first to provide assistance to victims of road accidents do not have medical education and do not know the exact use of medicine under certain circumstances;
  • many people have contraindications to certain medications, so using them without the appropriate knowledge and experience will be harmful;
  • the car interior, where significant temperature changes occur, does not provide appropriate conditions for storing medications;
  • Medicines in old-style kits are not intended to provide emergency medical care.

car first aid kit MIRAL

According to statistics, the majority of deaths after an accident are associated with the loss of a large amount of blood by the victim, so the new first aid kits focus on tools that help to quickly stop it. The new medical kits do not contain pharmacological drugs, ammonia, iodine or brilliant green.

Rules and conditions of storage according to GOST standards

GOST 7000 is responsible for the storage and transportation of medical bandages.

The premises and equipment intended for storing bandages must meet the requirements of sanitary standards and regulations, and follow methodological recommendations.

The permissible air temperature and humidity must be strictly adhered to. The manufacturer records all this data on the packaging of the bandages. Exposure to negative temperatures is contraindicated. Direct sunlight and physical pressure are also not recommended. To monitor and comply with all rules, thermometers and hygrometers are installed in the warehouse, and readings are taken once a day.

Dressing material should be stored in ventilated places equipped with cabinets, drawers, racks and pallets, which are painted on the inside with light-colored oil paint. To treat cabinets, use 0.2% chloramine or other approved disinfectants. Housekeeping is provided daily. Ventilation is installed by supply and exhaust; if this is not possible, there should be vents, transoms or lattice doors.

Sterile bandages are stored in original packaging, in parchment paper (GOST 1172-93), which indicates the date of manufacture, sterility and expiration date and the inscription “Tear the shell by twisting the bandage.” It is prohibited to store in opened packages. Transportation takes place in multilayer (3-4 layers) paper bags (Kraft bags).

Polyethylene film (GOST 10354) and wrapping paper (GOST 8273) are used for packaging non-sterile bandages, 1 piece each, sometimes up to 30 pieces are packed and placed in cardboard boxes. The packaging film should bear the inscription “Tear the casing along the cutout.” Stored on a rack or in a pallet.

The manufacturer guarantees that the product meets the requirements, provided that regulatory rules were followed during transportation and storage.

REFERENCE REGULATIVE AND TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS

An amendment was introduced, published in IUS N 5, 2004. The amendment was made by the manufacturer of the database. This standard applies to gauze medical bandages (hereinafter referred to as bandages) intended for fixation and application, as well as for the manufacture of surgical dressings. The standard establishes mandatory requirements for products aimed at to ensure its safety for the life and health of the population.

Can other drugs be added?

The mandatory composition of a first aid kit does not mean that the car owner does not have the right to add additional medications to it. Tablets for blood pressure, medications for the heart or against headaches can be useful for any driver, especially if there is a long road ahead.

There is only a small condition - the medicines must be certified in our country.

At the same time, it is prohibited to exchange medical supplies , located by default in first aid kits, for others. According to GOST 1172-93, the first aid kit must contain bandages of a mandatory size, so replacing them with other bandages is formally a violation of traffic rules and, accordingly, is punishable by a fine.

Also, you should not use additional funds from the first aid kit in relation to strangers who have been involved in an accident.

Any drugs can cause side effects and actions , so the results of their use are not guaranteed.

Responsibility for incorrectly administered medication and the adverse results of such action may fall on the unlucky driver.
